Sneak Peek: Upcoming ‘Portal V2’ major release
by Christie McLeod on Jul. 5, 2022
Today, we’re very excited to unveil a major project that has been in the works for many months and to give you a “sneak peek” at what’s coming.
Over the next few weeks, we will be rolling out Version 2 of the Shipfusion Portal (the interface and software Shipfusion clients use and interact with). As we get closer to the release date we will have more details to share, however today we wanted to give you a preview of what’s in store.
This update is more than just a new interface, in fact, it is a complete refactoring of the codebase. Why is that important? Shipfusion has grown dramatically over the years and the current version of Portal has served our customers well. However, going forward we plan to increase the pace of new feature development and we also needed to ensure that the Shipfusion platform was designed with future growth in mind. Portal V2 is our answer to this.
Portal V2 is a commitment to the future and our clients. While there are some new features and enhancements in this release, the emphasis here is on the fact that we now have a new, state-of-the-art foundation that will allow us to build and release new features and improvements faster than ever before. Our clients have been a tremendous source of feedback and feature suggestions and this release paves the way for future features and innovation.
What’s new in Portal V2?
All-New Interface
The most immediately recognizable change in V2 is the completely redesigned interface. Months of testing have gone into making Portal even easier to use and ensuring that you always have the information you need readily accessible.
Updated Reporting
Reporting has been revamped allowing more configurability, as well as faster generation of reports.
Introducing Global Search
The new sidebar Global Search function gives you an extremely fast and powerful way to find things anywhere in your account. Simply start typing to search across all fields and objects.
Improved speed and performance
The new infrastructure behind Portal means that the new version is much faster than before and feels much more responsive, even when working with large data sets.
New user permissions options
All new user permission settings allow you to get fine-grained with access rights. It’s now easier than ever to create roles with predetermined permission sets for cases where you want to grant the same set of permissions to many users.
Pins!
We’ve heard your requests, and we’re happy to announce that you can now “pin” items so that they are readily accessible without having to search for them. Super handy for items that you go back to frequently.
More visualizations
In general, the new interface is much more visual which should aid in ease of use, not just in terms of the software itself, but also to help you, onboard new staff, more easily by including product images, for example, where available.
Improved order management
Order management has gotten a refresh and now includes more information on a single screen to make users more efficient and reduce the number of clicks required. Creating orders is now more intuitive, and includes a number of improvements including the ability to see inventory right away.
Want to get access to the Beta?
Today, we are moving Portal V2 into Beta, which means a limited release before our General Availability release.
If you would like to opt-in to the Beta and get access to this new version now, simply reach out to your Account Manager for information and they would be happy to help.
When is the General Availability release and what to expect?
We will be announcing the General Availability release date within the next two weeks, but expect the release to take place in August.
Once the new version is released, it will replace the current version and interface. We expect little to no impact to availability during the upgrade. Prior to the General Availability release, articles, videos, and resources will be published to help you and your team get the most out of all the new features and improvements found in Portal V2. As always, if you have any questions please reach out to your Account Manager.
