Meet Derek: Shipfusion’s Newest Developer

We’re always expanding and developing our wonderful team. We are pleased to welcome our latest team member, Derek Shigetomi, as our new Student PHP Developer. Check out our Q&A below to find out more about him.

1. What has your career this far looked like in the tech industry?

My first tech job was a junior web developer position for a motorcycle dealer in Toronto. As someone who is just starting out in this field, it was quite nerve-wracking at first. However, after settling in and becoming more comfortable, I added some pretty cool features, revamped some pages, and fixed bugs. I am very excited to continue on this journey and see what it offers!

2. What plans do you see for Shipfusion? 

With no end of the pandemic insight, I can only see eCommerce becoming the more popular choice when it comes to shopping. With that in mind, I imagine Shipfusion will have a substantial increase in clients as well as a more diverse client base.

What are you most excited about in your new role?

I will be working on a feature that will potentially have thousands of views per day by customers. I’ve always appreciated companies that allow their team to have their contributions and impact noticed. I am also looking forward to working with a very talented team and learning as much as I can!
